Amid a recent upsurge of bad news — loss of residence, cessation of unemployment, joblessness, stinking toxic chemicals emitted from next door, an unbalanced roommate who wishes me absent and more undisclosed, I rejoice over good news as the distressed mama polar bear in reuniting with her lost cub.
The molar, nearly lost to years of untreated disease and infection, has been saved!
(I’m reasonably sure.)
Today brought the second evaluation by the superb endodontist; the first, weeks ago, revealed that the infection was still too prevalent to set the permanent material (gutta percha) into the roots.
So a retreatment (essentially a second root canal to insert medicine) was done.
Other undisclosed factors put the tooth into a state of pending.
Today’s visit revealed that the retreatment was successful; a third and final root canal (retreatment) was completed and the permanent material inserted.
Officially ending a two-year chapter of pain, disease and bone loss!
For those who may be unaware, yes, bone lost from extensive and enduring tooth disease does regrow and regenererate. Verrrrrry slowly. There is your dental fact of the day!
While the tooth was successfully saved, today completes only Stage I.
Stage II remains. Rebuilding the tooth with a gold crown. That work falls not to my endodontist but to the expert and meticulous hands of a to-be-determined dentist skilled in crowns, bridges and the sort.
There can be no dilly-dallying on it as the molar dons only a temporary shield that shan’t last long. A month max to get started on the crown.
How will I pay for all this?! Hell if I know! No job, no insurance, no income …. eh, screw it! That’s a downer on my happy mood!
My joy! My relief! My bright elebration!
A tooth was saved! And today a dark legacy and inheritance from Tacoma, Washington was laid to rest.
I’d chew some sugarless gum (love gum and have gone without for obvious reasons) to celebrate but it’d pull that that temporary shield right off.
A girl can still dream and share a bag in cyberspace! …

Screw it indeed! Hooray for the savoir of your tooth!
Now, I must ask – you imply here that you are seeking a new place. If so, on leaving please spend some quality time slapping your roommate sillier than she already is. And add a couple of extra hits from me.
