Foto Friday

I remember them well, the 10 fleeting consecutive moments in July when the sun shined powerfully and warmly in my neck of the Pacific Northwest woods.

Your head would spin at the bounty of events and activities scheduled in July and August as groups and organizations cram in as many as possible into that narrow window of the year when sunshine is likely. Likely, not guaranteed.

We had no summer this year. We were gypped of the enduring light and heat that we, starved for sun and Vitamin D, await with fervish anticipation for nine months. That’s beside the point, sorta.

My remember taking this photo so vividly because it was an afternoon of glory under blessed blue sky and sun. The event was a juried art festival along the waterfront of the little town across the bridge.

The artist, a woman, did beautiful tile work and paintings, including of her two cats. Though I posed question after question about her feline companions, I can’t recall their names, only their distinct characters, her remarkable connection with them and her talent with colors and tiles.
